Azerbaijan diaspora chief calls for stronger coordination among US community [PHOTOS]
Fuad Muradov, Chairman of Azerbaijan's State Committee on Work with Diaspora, who is on a visit to the United States, and the committee's employees met with members of the Azerbaijani community in Washington.
The event brought together active diaspora representatives and youth from Washington and various US states.
The event commenced with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and the United States, followed by a minute of silence honoring those, who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
Participants then watched a documentary highlighting the diaspora’s role during the Second Karabakh War.
Addressing the meeting, Fuad Muradov, Chairman of Azerbaijan's State Committee on Work with Diaspora, noted that the institutional development, stronger inter-community coordination, and the promotion of "Azerbaijanism" are among the top priorities. He underlined that the recent expansion of Azerbaijani houses, weekend schools, and diaspora platforms reflects a growing focus on youth engagement.
The Committee Chairman highly appreciated the organization of the Azerbaijani community in the United States and the formation of the US-Azerbaijan Alliance, calling on community members to collaborate more actively around this platform.
Fuad Muradov said that diaspora activities are shifting beyond traditional advocacy toward hosting scientific forums, exhibitions, and professional networks. He reiterated the committee's commitment to backing diaspora-led projects that foster collaboration among young people and professionals abroad.
During the event, Fuad Muradov presented the "For Service in Diaspora Activity" medal to community members Sevda Tahirli and Elmar Bayramov in recognition of their contributions.
Following the award presentation, U.S.-based diaspora delegates and youth representatives presented new community initiatives, detailing their scope and expected impact.
The session concluded with an open discussion on future priorities and upcoming plans.
The meeting concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where Fuad Muradov addressed questions, heard community proposals, and exchanged views on key issues with diaspora members.
