MOSCOW – Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu has thanked Astrakhan Governor Alexander Zhilkin for his assistance in establishment of the monument to national leader, former president Heydar Aliyev.
The monument to Heydar Aliyev will be opened on Wednesday during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Astrakhan.
The agreement on the construction of the monument was reached during the Baku visit of the Vice-Governor and Astrakhan government chairman, Konstantin Markelov, in December 2009.
It was decided to erect the bronze monument with a height of more than 7 meters on the embankment of the Volga backwater in the Kirov district of Astrakhan.
