Azeri leader hosts Latvia’s former president
BAKU – Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received on Monday former Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga, AzerTaj state news agency reported.
Ms. Vaira Vike-Freiberga said a lot of work had been done in Baku since she visited the city five years ago. She noted Baku had turned into a beautiful and modern city, and congratulated the Azerbaijani President on the accomplishments achieved.
President Aliyev, in turn, said large-scale projects were being carried out in Baku, as well as the regions of Azerbaijan. He pointed out a large volume of investment is made in various fields, including in tourism sector in the country.
Touching upon Azerbaijan’s international relations, the president said the country attaches great importance to cooperation with the European Union.
Vike-Freiberga said she would always support the expansion of Azerbaijan-EU cooperation.
