Parliament vote ‘important for Azerbaijan’s future’
BAKU – The Council of Europe considers the November parliamentary elections important for Azerbaijan’s future, CE Ambassador Veronika Kotek has said.
Kotek told reporters Tuesday that she hopes all citizens will be able to freely exercise their suffrage and express their will on election day.
According to the envoy, five CE long-term observers will begin working in Azerbaijan in mid-October. Over three days, they will hold discussions with representatives of the government and political parties. 30 short-term observers will arrive in the country on the eve of the elections.
Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority of votes system in 125 constituencies.
