Azeris detained in UAE over stabbing man to death
DUBAI - A group of eight Azerbaijani men have been arrested in the United Arab Emirates on charges of stabbing to death an Emirati man, the UAE-based Gulf News quoted a police source as saying.
Police said the incident happened on Saturday evening at the Kavkaz restaurant on Al Wahda Street.
The accused men were taken in for interrogation in Sharjah where the incident reportedly took place. They also said the unidentified man died on the spot.
"It seems an argument started between the accused and the victim which led to the fight that ended with stabbing the Emirati man to death," the police source said.
Police said this restaurant chain, one in Sharjah and the other in Bur Dubai, are mostly visited by Russians, Azerbaijanis and Uzbeks.
