Security guard seized over stealing $100,000
BAKU – A security guard has been arrested over stealing from the BakiElektrikShebeke power supply company’s office in the Nasimi district of Baku, police officials said.
Arif Taghiyev, 22, who stole 80,000 manats ($100,000), had gone into hiding in the Shaki district. Law enforcers detained Taghiyev in an operation and he was detained Thursday and brought to the capital Baku.
Taghiyev admitted to the crime in a police testimony, saying he had buried the money in his neighbor’s courtyard in the Khojasan settlement where he lived.
During the search the cash was found and impounded from a hen-house in the courtyard.
The crime was committed on Sunday night on the 28 May street downtown Baku.
