Russian FM: Moscow promotes Karabakh solution
Russia actively promotes the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict, Itar-Tass quoted Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov
as saying in an interview with the Mir television channel this
week.
"Separate conflicts remain in the CIS," he said. "Above all, this is the Karabakh conflict, which Russia is actively working on settling. We have come a long way in this conflict. Most recently, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his colleagues from Armenia and Azerbaijan held their sixth meeting in St. Petersburg at an economic forum. Additional instructions were given as a result of this meeting. We expect to meet with the Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers, as well as with other representatives of the Minsk Group co-chair countries, at the OSCE Foreign Ministerial Council in Almaty in mid-July."
