Nardaran residents protest deadly Israeli attack on aid flotilla
Over a hundred residents of Nardaran, a stronghold of Islamic
tradition about 40 km north of Baku, took to the streets Friday to
protest at Israel’s recent deadly attack on an aid flotilla bound
for the Gaza Strip.
The protesters chanted anti-Israel slogans, demanding that Israel be brought before an international court of law. They raised the Azerbaijani, Turkish and Palestinian flags and threw the Israeli flag on the ground. In conclusion, the pickets burned the flags of Israel, the United States, France, Britain and Armenia.
Scores were reportedly killed, mostly Turkish nationals, when the aid flotilla consisting of six vessels, co-sponsored by a Turkish organization, was attacked by Israeli commandos on Monday. Azerbaijan strongly condemned the attack, which sparked an angry response from the international community and prompted protests worldwide.*
