AssA-Irada stepped up efforts to convey Garabagh truth to world
AssA-Irada news agency has considerably stepped up its work on
conveying the truth about the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over
Upper (Nagorno) Garabagh and Armenian terror to the world community
since this April. This has been made possible owing to a project
being implemented with the financial aid of the state-run
foundation assisting media development, commented Sevda Mikayilova,
the AssA-Irada editor.
"With rising political and military tension in the region – with Armenia’s backing down from the Madrid principles [an outline for a Garabagh settlement proposed by international mediators], and peace talks with Azerbaijan being derailed, and at a time Armenia’s talks with Turkey are stalled due to its persistent non-constructive and illogical actions, financial assistance from the Foundation for State Assistance to the Development of the Media under the President of the Azerbaijan Republic arrived to help us. We opened the ‘Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict’ section in our daily bulletins, the variety and number of our news reports in the English and Azerbaijani languages increased, and their quality improved. This section covers diplomatic activity related to this conflict, talks and hot news from the frontline. We further plan to provide coverage of the historic facts about this conflict, which has persisted for over a hundred years, as well as the views on the issue of prominent political analysts, scholars and other writers, under another section.
The AssA-Irada International Independent News Agency, which began operating in 1990-91, was the first independent news agency in the 135-year-long history of the Azerbaijani press. The media outlet, which was established back in the Soviet times, despite obstacles and challenges facing it, forged cooperation and signed contracts with the world’s numerous leading news agencies, TV channels and newspapers.*
