Iran rejects Azeri medical university diplomas – agency
The Iranian government considers Azerbaijan Medical University diplomas invalid, Iran’s Deputy Health Minister Mahammadali Mohaqqiqi was quoted by the local Mehr news agency as saying.
He said Iranian Health Minister Marzieh Vahid Dastjerdi met with Iranian students during his visit to Azerbaijan this February and found that the students faced quite a few problems. According to Mohaqqiqi, since his government is not content with the level of Iranian students’ education in the neighboring country, the Azerbaijan Medical University diplomas are not accepted in Iran.
"Overall, the titles of all Azerbaijani educational institutions have been removed from the Iranian Health Ministry list," the deputy minister said.
Mohaqqiqi also said Iranian medical school students are no longer being sent to Azerbaijan for studies.
He said the Health Ministry was also concerned over Iranian female students’ being prompted to take their veils off to have their photos taken.*
