Azeri realtor aims at US deputy governor post

Native Azerbaijani US businessman Paul Murad has nominated his
candidacy for the post of Lieutenant Governor in the state of
Nevada.
Murad, 35, at the age of 16 moved to the U.S. where he received a university degree. He is currently involved in real estate business in the fast-growing town of Las Vegas. Also, the entrepreneur is known in Nevada for his charity undertakings.
Murad enjoys the backing of the Azerbaijani and Turkish communities ahead of the June 8 elections.
The businessman, who represents the Democratic Party, is focusing in his pre-election campaign on warding off the impact of the financial crisis as well as specific challenges facing the US economy.
"I am asserting that I will work hard to make my contribution to Nevadans and the state of Nevada. I will spare no effort to develop new types of business and to draw investment here," Murad said.
Born in Baku in 1975, Murad has lived in the U.S. since 1992. Murad holds a degree from the University of Tulsa in International Business and Finance. He is president of METROPLEX Group, a Las Vegas-based real estate brokerage, investments and development company.
