Azerbaijan ensures implementation of UN resolutions by liberating its internationally recognized territories

Azerbaijan ensures implementation of UN resolutions by liberating its internationally recognized territories from Armenian occupation.

The remark was made by the Azerbaijan Minister of Labor and Social Protection Sahil Babayev during the meeting with UNDP Resident Representative for Azerbaijan Alessandro Fracassetti on November 7.

He underlined that despite large-scale terrorist attacks on Azerbaijani settlements by Armenia, which pursues a policy of terrorism at the state level, Azerbaijani army never target civilians. In addition, he stressed that all military operations are conducted on the territory of Azerbaijan.

The minister emphasized that Armenia has been occupying Azerbaijani territories for almost 30 years ignoring four UN resolutions and launched another military provocation against Azerbaijan on September 27.

Moreover, he stressed that despite the fact that humanitarian ceasefire were declared three times, every time the ceasefire were violated by the Armenian armed forces, and Azerbaijani settlements and civilians, located far from the conflict zone and where there are no military facilities, were subjected to strong artillery and missile attacks.

It should be noted that as a result of these war crimes committed by Armenia, 93 civilians were killed, including children, women and elderly, 407 wounded. In addition, 504 civilian facilities, 120 multi- apartment buildings and 3,326 houses were severely damaged.

Likewise, the minister noted large-scale social support measures implemented in the country during the pandemic. He stated the important support to self-employment of people with disabilities in the project jointly implemented by the UNDP and the Ministry. In addition, he stated that within the framework of the project the work on creation of small business for 500 people with disabilities is carried out.

In turn, Francassetti stressed the importance of UNDP cooperation with the Ministry in expanding employment opportunities for vulnerable groups and positive results of joint work in these areas. In addition, he expressed satisfaction with the efforts made to consistently and purposefully continue joint projects, despite the limitations of the pandemic period.

Additionally, the parties discussed the status of implementation of such projects and the work to be done, review and analysis of pension reforms, assessment of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on employment and labor market in Azerbaijan.
