Almost 800 foreigners are restricted from entry into Azerbaijan, the State Migration Service said on October 25 at the event in Sumgayit titled Open Doors Day.

As many as 17,076 decisions were made in Azerbaijan in the first nine months of 2017 in connection with foreigners and stateless persons’ violations in the migration sphere, including in connection with violation of the requirements of administrative legislation.

A total of 1,930 of them were related to the legalization of foreigners and stateless persons’ residence in Azerbaijan, 9,122 were connected with the use of an administrative fine, but without administrative deportation from the country, while 5,052 - with the use of the fine and administrative deportation.

Moreover, 785 of the decisions were related to the restrictions on entry into Azerbaijan in accordance with Article 16.1.8 of the Migration Code, and 187 were linked to the replacement of the document on temporary or permanent residence with a new document.

In general, in the first nine months of 2017, the State Migration Service received 66,828 applications from foreigners and stateless persons regarding the extension of the period of stay in the country, issuance of permits for temporary or permanent residence, taking, restoration or termination of citizenship, and on some other issues.

The State Migration Service separately considered each appeal and made decisions in accordance with the requirements of the Azerbaijani legislation.

The Migration Service also noted that during the first nine months, 633,827 applications of foreigners and stateless persons were received in connection with registration at the place of stay.

Foreigners and stateless persons arriving in Azerbaijan for a period exceeding 10 days should register at the Migration Service, providing a copy of the person's ID to the Migration Service personally, or via email within 10 days. The Migration Service will immediately register foreigners at the place of their stay and present written notification within one working day.

Foreigners can be registered for the period provided in their visas, or for 90 days under the visa-free regime. After changing the place of residence, registration must be renewed. These easy steps can exempt visitors from penalties and deportation.
