Defense ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia are planning to sign a memorandum of trilateral military cooperation.
The issue was discussed during a meeting of Georgian Defense Minister Levan Izoria with his Turkish counterpart Fikri Isik at the International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF), which is ongoing in Istanbul, Georgian media reported on May11.
Following the meeting, Izoria said that Batumi will soon host a meeting of the defense ministers of Georgia, Turkey and Azerbaijan.
"After 10 days in Batumi, we will discuss the format of trilateral cooperation. The memorandum aimed at improving the quality of our military cooperation will be signed,” said the minister.
The memorandum will be a legal base of the three countries’ cooperation and allow their trilateral activities to enter a new stage.
The last meeting of the three countries’ defense ministers was held in Azerbaijan, Gabala on May 15, 2016. The meeting discussed security issues and mutual interests for cooperation in the military field.
