One-stop system to apply to migration
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed a
decree on applying the "one-stop" system to the management of
foreign migrants.
The system is intended to upgrade migration management, enable foreigners and stateless persons to legally live and work in Azerbaijan, seek work permits, register at the place of their temporary residence and ensure transparency of the entire process. The system will begin on July 1, 2009.
The State Migration Service will assume the function of the state body of executive authority in migration-related issues. The service will have the authority to issue permits to foreign nationals to live and work in Azerbaijan.
Under the decree, applications for temporary residences in Azerbaijan will be considered by the service within 20 days of receiving a request.
