The opening ceremony of the second Handicrafts Festival was held in “Kapelhaus” German-Azerbaijani Cultural Society on November 7. It was organized by the Creative People Association “Bazak”.

More than 40 masters are taking part in the festival. Various samples of arts and crafts including embroidery, carpet weaving, jewelry making, pottery, knitting, macrame, artistic wood carving, sculpture, batik, stained glass, beading and many other incredible handmade are being put on display.

The organizers of the interesting festival, Konul Allahverdiyeva and Tarana Jafarova noted that the first festival which was held earlier in June aroused great interest among the visitors as well as the masters of applied art.

“Preparing for the festival, we decided to make it on the theme of Azerbaijani carpets. Thus, every participant should present several works using the national carpet designs, colors and patterns,” they said.

As organizers say, the festival is aimed to promote people to creativity and creation of interesting works as well as development of arts and crafts.

“I think that further we will carry out a competition on The Best Work,” Allahverdiyeva noted.

The festival involves different age groups from enough young masters to adult generation.

The most attractive work of the first exhibition belonged to the 83 year-old Zarifa Seidaliyeva. The organizers cited that Seidaliyeva has time not only to talk about her works but also to share her experience with young participants.

One of the participants of the exhibition, Tatyana Aliyeva, who is engaged in knitted toys, said that it is not the first time she attends such kind of event.

“An amazing atmosphere is reigning here. All the participants share their experiences and learn something new. Visitors attentively watch all the works. Of course, everyone sees things differently: Little children always take attention to the featured toys,” she said.

For many participants, arts and crafts are just a hobby. As, for example Naya Nafiabas, another participant of the festival noted, that she does not have professional art education, but she has always been interested in arts and crafts.

“It is my second participation in the festival. My works were created in a new technique called Pape art. I got acquainted with this kind of art via Internet. I liked the idea and then decided to try it,” Nafiabas noted.

The festival will run until November 8. The entrance is free.
