Int’l conference on intercultural dialogue due in Baku

Azerbaijan`s capital will host an international conference titled "Building intercultural and interfaith dialogue" in September, AzerTac state news agency reported.

The event will bring together representatives of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, Nizami Ganjavi International Centre, Club of Rome, Club de Madrid, World Academy of Art & Science, Council on Foreign Relations, Chatham House, Rockefeller Foundation, Royal Library of Alexandria, Library of U.S. Congress, Peace and Culture Foundation, John Hopkins and Stanford universities.

The event aims to build a joint mechanism for development of intercultural and interfaith dialogue.

The conference will be moderated by UNESCO`s ex-Director General Federico Mayor Zaragoza, ex-Finnish president Tarja Halonen, ex-Vice President of the World Bank Ismail Serageldin and ex-Latvian president Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga.

On the sidelines of the project a special gathering will be held in July led by Special Adviser to the UN Secretary General Nafis Sadik.
