An individual exhibition of leading Cuban designer, producer and graphic illustrator Jorge Rodriguez Diez opened at the Contemporary Art Center in Baku.

The 10-day exhibition, organized by the Cuban Embassy in Azerbaijan jointly with the Azerbaijan Union of Artists, features 11 graphic paintings by Diez.

Opening the exposition, Chairman of the Union of Artists Farhad Khalilov said that Azerbaijan and Cuba are connected with friendly relations.

"In Baku, Jorge Rodriguez Diez will visit different exhibitions, get acquainted with Azerbaijani art figures and meet with our young designers and artists," he said.

Cuban Ambassador to Azerbaijan Omar Medina Quintero, for his part, said that it is a major event for presentation of the works by the young Cuban painter in Baku.

According to him, cultural cooperation of the two countries is an important part of bilateral relations.

Culture and Tourism Ministry representative Qalib Qasimov congratulated the artist with the opening of the exhibition, noting that Azerbaijan and Cuba will further cooperate in the cultural sphere in the future.

It is planned to hold an exposition of Cuban painters in Baku this fall, as well as present Azerbaijani art in Cuba.

Addressing the participants, Diez expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to present his works in the Azerbaijani capital.

"Here I feel at home, thank you for your warm and hospitable welcome," he said.

He said that the exhibition includes 11 works, four series, three of which were already exhibited once and one which will be showed in Havana next year.
