A charity festival for children with special needs dedicated to Azerbaijani culture was held in Saint Petersburg, Russia's second-largest city, on Sunday.

The festival for children with development problems, which was hosted by the Russian Ethnography Museum, was supported by the Saint Petersburg Center for Creative Development Anima, Azerbaijani Consulate General and the regional branch of the All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress in Saint Petersburg.

Consul Elshad Gulamov, addressing the opening of the festival, stressed the significance of such events, adding that Azerbaijan pays much attention to children with special needs and disabilities.

The festival is organized annually under the auspices of the consulates accredited in the Russian city. This year, the festival is dedicated to Azerbaijani culture.

Various master classes were offered to the participants, including those on learning to play Azerbaijani national stringed musical instrument saz, a dance workshop with Azerbaijani folk dancing and a creative workshop which taught participants to draw Azerbaijani landscapes.

Children were also offered a special tour dedicated to the traditional culture of the Azerbaijani people. The expositions featured Azerbaijani national costumes and cuisine.

The participants also watched a charity concert, received gifts and tasted Azerbaijani national food.
