Azerbaijani break-dancers (b-boys) won all the top prizes at an international championship in Germany, repeating the UK's unseen success over a decade ago.

The best dance teams from 38 countries competed for the champion title at the tournament, which ended in Bochum, Germany on Sunday.

The Azerbaijani national b-boy team participated in such a major international championship for the first time. Four dancers qualified for the finals and three of them were members of the Azerbaijani team. In the final Azerbaijani dancers left no chance for their rivals and won all the top awards. Emil Mehdizade won gold, while Ferman Lazimov came second and Javid Aslanov ranked third.

President of the Azerbaijan Social and Modern Dance Association, Aziz Azizli, said that the UK has been the only country over the past 15 to 20-year history of the championship to win all prizes, and Azerbaijan now managed to repeat this success by gaining the three top spots.

"This was the first participation of our national team in the championship and we believe that we will achieve such [high] results in future international tournaments," Azizli said. "This achievement will serve as an impetus and inspiration for other dancers of the Association."

Moreover, the Azerbaijani dance couple of Eldar Jafarov and Anna Sazhina won the first place in the World Dance Council (WDC) championship of sport dancing among professionals in Montreal, Canada, leaving behind competitors from the U.S., Canada, Germany, Sweden, Britain, Italy, Ukraine, Russia, Australia, Japan and other countries.
