World-famous actor Gerard Depardieu has started shooting a new documentary in Azerbaijan dedicated to 19th century French novelist Alexandre Dumas.
Shooting will be carried out in the capital Baku and regions of the country visited by Alexandre Dumas in 1858. Depardieu, who himself stars in the movie, arrived in Baku early last week.
The first shooting of the film took place in the Baku Jazz Center. A young Azerbaijani jazzman, Emil Efrasiyab, attracted Depardieu's attention and in the sequel he offered the musician to write a soundtrack for the film.
Meanwhile, a contract was signed with the French company CTM on the reconstruction of the Azerbaijanfilm studio with the participation of Gerard Depardieu at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Baku on Saturday.
Minister Abulfaz Garayev and CTM director general Arno Frille attended the signing ceremony, relevant bodies told Trend news agency.
The minister said that the reconstruction of the film studio will renew cinema in Azerbaijan.
Depardieu said that Azerbaijan has great tourism potential. He also admired the nature, culture and hospitality of the Azerbaijanis.
