Azerbaijan plans to run tourist trains during Eurovision
Azerbaijan Railways intends to run tourist trains to Ganja, the country`s second largest city, and the Georgian capital Tbilisi during the Eurovision song contest due in Baku in late May, the company`s spokesman said.
We are ready to launch special tourist trains in these directions, if appeals are received from travel agencies, Nadir Azmammadov told Trend news agency.
Azmammadov also said two tourist information hubs will offer services to passengers at the Baku railway station during Eurovision 2012.
The work is under completion to establish two information points. One of them will be located on the railway platform, while the other one - near the ticket offices. They will render all information services to tourists during the song contest.
Azmammadov added that all signposts at the railway station will be in Azerbaijani and English during the song contest. He noted that creating taxi and bus stops in front of the railway station is also planned. These operations are being carried out under the action plan developed by the Transport Ministry to prepare for the contest.
The Eurovision 2012 semi-finals will be held on May 22 and May 24 and the final on May 26.
Azerbaijan won the right to host the prestigious European song contest after the victory of Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal (Ell/Nikki) at Eurovision 2011 in Dusseldorf.
