Eurovision winners forgot to take Azeri flag on stage over ‘excitement’
BAKU – The winners of Eurovision-2011 song contest did not take the Azerbaijani flag on stage to the awards ceremony only because of the excitement, Director General of the Azerbaijani Public TV Ismayil Omarov said at a press conference.
He said Eldar Gasimov had to go on stage with the Azerbaijani flag, but he forgot to do it due to excitement.
Nigar Jamal said they disappointed about Turkey’s nonparticipation in the competition, and they decided to take the stage flag of the fraternal country.
Eurovision-2011 took place in Germany last Saturday. The Azerbaijani duo Nikki (Nigar Jamal) and Ell (Eldar Gasimov) with the song "Running Scared" won the contest.
