Works of street artists to be shown in Baku

Art Gallery will showcase the works of graphic artists on January 21.
The exhibition will feature graffiti works by Stefan Bust (Switzerland), Drax (Great Britain) and Emil Majnunov (Azerbaijan).
The event is co-organized by the Swiss Embassy in Azerbaijan, Arts Council Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Graffiti has been quickly developing. During the last few years, there has been a significant increase in the number of talented artists in Azerbaijan making an impression in the street-art community.
The first ever graffiti festival took place in Baku in 2016. During the day, young artists painted the parking of the shopping center. In the end, their works were presented to the public.
Graffiti is an entertaining art of writing or drawings that have been scribbled, scratched, or painted illicitly on a wall or other surface. It expresses underlying social and political messages and a whole genre of artistic expression is based upon spray paint graffiti style.
Graffiti art ranges from simple written words to elaborate wall paintings. A work of street art has been popular since ancient times. Some of the earliest paintings date back to the ancient Egypt and Greece.
Modern graffiti art can be traced to the late 1960s in the United States. It originated in New York City, and it was known first as "New York Style" graffiti.
There are various forms of graffiti. One of the simplest forms is that of individual markings such as slogans, slurs, or political statements.
Aerosol paint (also called spray paint) provides the key component to graffiti and street art. Unlike many traditional rolled or brushed paints, spray painting leaves a smooth surface. Standard sized spray cans are lightweight and portable. Most aerosol paints also have a metal, marble, glass or plastic ball called a pea inside of the can. This ball is widely used to mix the paint when the can is shaken.
There are a variety of paints, including primers, heat and traffic resistant enamels, gloss and matte finishes, metallic colors, and textured paints for home decor. Spray paint is useful for quick, semi-permanent marking on construction and surveying sites.
One will need numerous graffiti supplies which will allow creating spray paint art freely. Choosing the correct type of spray paint is a key to success. First of all, one should choose the right spray for his or her work.
Common types of spray paint include general purpose, decorative and craft, rust-prevention, professional, plastic and specialty.
