Baku has hosted a gala evening dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the artistic director of Azerbaijan Folk Instruments Ensemble "Xatirə", Adil Bagirov.

The event was co-organized by Mədəniyyət’ TV channel, ‘Azerbaijan’ radio channel and International Mugham Center, Trend Life reported.

Azerbaijan's Honored Artist Azad Shukurov spoke about the history of the ensemble "Xatirə", which was created by tar player Akhsan Dadashov in 1961 with the support of "Azerbaijan" TV and Radio channel.

The ensemble, led by Adil Bagirov, has successfully toured in different countries, promoting national music of Azerbijan. Later, the guests watched a video about his life and creativity.

Director of Mədəniyyət’ TV channel, honored artist Ramil Gasimov, secretary of Azerbaijan Composers Union Sardar Faradzhev, Rector of National Conservatoire Siyavush Karimi congratulated the hero of the day.

Azerbaijan's honored artists, Brilliant Orujova, Zakir Aliyev, Jabir Abdullayev, Tayyar Bayramov, singers Kamala Nabieva, Ayten Maharramova, Gunay Imamverdiyeva, Abgul Mirzaliyev, Sarkhan Bunyadzade and Elnur Zeynalov performed at the gala concert.

The musicians were accompanied by the ensemble "Xatirə". They performed works of such famous Azerbaijani composers and mugham singers as Firangiz Babayeva, Emin Sabitoglu, Gambar Huseynli, Ramiz Mirishli, Arif Babayev, Oqtay Rajabov, Alibaba Mammadov, Jahangir Jahangirov and other composers.
