LED mass production launching
The high technology research center at the Azerbaijani communications ministry is starting mass production of LEDs, the center told Trend news agency on Monday.
Previously, an experimental batch of LEDs was successfully produced at the center.
LED technologies will be used in mass production soon. An official ceremony is due to be held with the participation of senior officials.
LED technologies will be applied in street lighting in Baku by late 2012.
After meeting the domestic demand, it is planned to deliver these technologies to international markets.
LED is an energy efficient method. As opposed to ordinary incandescent bulbs, it saves energy consumption by 80 percent.
LED lighting systems are to be used in Azerbaijan for both decorative and general lighting.
The ministry`s center also plans to produce infrared LEDs for their further use in fiber-optic communication lines.
