Azerbaijan turning into major foreign investor
BAKU - Azerbaijani businessmen and companies have begun investing abroad, Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev has said.
"Thus, $4 billion has already been invested in [neighboring] Turkey’s economy, and in the coming years investments are planned to increase by another $6 billion," Mustafayev said.
According to him, Azerbaijani investments in Georgia have reached $1 billion.
"A graphic example of how important Azerbaijan is for Georgia as an investor is an Azerbaijani company’s [Socar Georgia, a subsidiary company of Azerbaijan’s state energy firm Socar] being named the biggest investor and taxpayer of the year [in the neighboring country]," the minister said.
