Bakcell shifts to billing in local currency

BAKU – Bakcell, Azerbaijan’s first mobile operator, on Thursday shifted from talk units to a billing system based on local currency, the company’s CEO Richard Shearer said.

Shearer said Bakcell has "invested a lot of resources" to ensure the convenience of the contour to manat transition for its customers.

"The logic of the transition is simple: to standardize tariff rates in the market and make price comparison easier for customers and give them the freedom of choice," Shearer said. "Bakcell subscribers will one more time be sure that we offer the most beneficial tariffs in the Azerbaijan market."

The subscribers who loaded talk units before May 5 can still use their existing balance, and after they run out of talk units, billing will switch to manats.

Krasimir Genov, Bakcell Chief Commercial Officer, said Bakcell’s Cin subscribers will continue using all the advantages that they had before. "We have not changed our tariff logic and will continue to offer the same simple and attractive products, such as SevimliCin, SevinCin and QoshaCin for even more beneficial fees," he said.

One of the advantages of the transition is that customers will be able to load not only Bakcell scratch cards, but also money balance worth up to 200 manats (about $250) at the company’s customer care centers. In the near future, Cin customers will also have the options to load balance via ATMs and online.
