Azerbaijan buys huge Boeing freighter
BAKU – Azerbaijan’s SilkWay airline purchased a huge Boeing freighter aircraft from the Luxembourg-based Cargolux Airlines International SA on Monday.
According to Arif Mammadov, Director of the State Civil Aviation Administration, the purchase of the widebody Boeing 747-400 F freighter, one of the heaviest aircraft models, aims to turn the capital Baku into a bridge between the East and West in the future.
"On November 10 all of the international documents for this plane will be ready and it will begin flying under the Azerbaijani flag," Mammadov said.
He added that Azerbaijan will import another such aircraft next year.
