Azeri gov’t cites slight inflation in January
Inflation was reported in Azerbaijan in January, as prices edged
up 1.8% in comparison with the figures seen a year ago, the State
Statistics Committee said.
The increase was mainly caused by rising fees for services, a trend
linked to the 2009 increase in domestic gas prices and the subway
fare.
Though prices for food decreased 1% over the past year, those for
other goods rose 1.4% and service fees 9.2%.*
