The success achieved by Azerbaijan shows that there is no alternative to the socio-economic policy of President Ilham Aliyev, representative of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, Vusal Shikhaliyev, said Oct. 31 at a press conference dedicated to the Doing Business 2019 report.

At the same time, Shikhaliyev noted that the position of Azerbaijan in the report shows that the ongoing reforms reflect the interests of all sectors of society, including business entities.

"The reforms being carried out in Azerbaijan allowed to achieve a record-breaking indicator in the rating. Thus, Azerbaijan improved its position by 32 places, taking the 25th place among 190 countries. Azerbaijan ranked first among the CIS countries."

The representative of the Presidential Administration noted that Azerbaijan entered the list of the 10 reformers and was declared the country with the largest number of reforms. "Azerbaijan significantly improved its positions in eight out of 10 indicators in Doing Business."

"As announced by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, despite the fall in oil prices, since the end of 2015, the reforms in Azerbaijan have been further deepened and they in fact reached a new level. As a result of the country's economic reforms, the financial stability and economic growth in many areas were restored, especially a significant progress has been made in the agricultural, non-oil and other sectors," Shikhaliyev said.

He stressed that as a result of the ongoing reforms in Azerbaijan, a significant progress was achieved in such indicators as starting a business, obtaining a building permit, connecting to power grids, registering property, and others.

Azerbaijan took the 25th place among 190 countries in Doing Business 2019. Azerbaijan ranked first in the world in terms of the number of reforms carried out. The country improved its position by 100 steps in such indicators as obtaining credit and building permit. Azerbaijan ranked second in the world in terms of protecting the interests of small investors.
