Azerbaijan’s next Trade House will be opened in Latvia until the end of July, acting chairman of Azerbaijani Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) Yusif Abdullayev said at a regular meeting of the Exporters Club on July 1.

“This will be the first trade house of Azerbaijan in the countries of the European Union (EU), which shows the direction of our exports expansion,” he said.

The trade house will support promotion of Azerbaijani products under the “Made in Azerbaijan” brand in Latvia, marketing research, participation in exhibitions and other activities related to the promotion of Azerbaijani goods.

It will come as Azerbaijan’s fourth Trade House abroad. The country’s first ever Trade House was opened in the Belarus capital Minsk, on May 26. The second House appeared in Ukraine. Other two Trade Houses are expected to open in Shanghai and Astrakhan soon. The country eyes to open Trade Houses in such countries as China, the UAE, Netherlands, Kazakhstan and others.

Speaking at the meeting, Abdullayev further noted that since the beginning of 2018, Azerbaijan's exporters were repaid 2.185 million manats through a mechanism of returning part of the costs while exporting non-oil products.

At the same time, according to the AZPROMO chairman, the products worth $ 29.495 million were exported.

According to Abdullayev, the exporters were repaid funds in the amount of 2.8 million manats, while the export volume hit $30 million.

Since March 1, 2016, additional measures to encourage the export of non-oil products produced in Azerbaijan have been taken. The decree signed by the President Ilham Aliyev will be valid until December 31, 2020.

Export promotion is provided by state budget, depending on the types of products, local components used in the process, the specific weight of non-oil products produced in Azerbaijan. The amount of payment is 3 percent of the customs value of the declared exported goods.

There are stipulated funds in the amount of 10 million manats for the export promotion payments to non-oil exporters in the state budget of Azerbaijan for 2018.

Speaking to journalists later, Abdullayev also informed that Azerbaijan’s wine exports in January-May 2018 increased.

“The wine export for five months of 2018 increased by 80 percent,” he said, adding that AZPROMO plans to open a wine house in China.

In Azerbaijan, the volume of production of winemaking amounted to 1 million decalitres in 2017, of which 375,000 decaliters was exported.

At the same time, one of the tasks is to increase the export of wine products by five times by 2026. Thus, by the end of 2025, the export of wine products should reach 1.875 million decaliters.

In 2017, Azerbaijan's wine products were exported at an average price of $ 1,200 per ton. Last year, the main export market for Azerbaijan was Russia with 338,000 deciliters. Another 27,000 deciliters were exported to China.
