Pensions of 90,000 people to increase

The labor pension will be increased for about 90,000 people falling under the corresponding category, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population said on June 27.
The decree issued by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to approve the “Rules for the recalculation of allowances with regards to the length of service for pensions, appointed before July 1, 2017” enabled to take another step to strengthen the social protection of pensioners.
These rules establish the procedure for recalculating the amount of allowances for labor pensions for military personnel and persons holding special ranks, civil servants and others (stipulated in Article 20 of the Law on Labor Pensions).
According to the document, the total recalculation of the allowances to labor pensions for the length of service of about 90,000 pensioners of the appropriate category will be implemented. Then the amount of the premium will be increased. The revised allowance will be paid together with the July pension.
Recalculation of the amount of increments should be carried out at indexation of the insurance part of the pension or an increase in the wages of persons whose social payments are calculated on the basis of this indicator.
From 2006 to 2017, the average monthly amount of labor pensions had increased by 6.8 time to 204 manats, the average monthly amount of labor pensions by age increased 7.7 times to 228 manats.
