Projects on creation of greenhouses and beekeeping farms are being implemented in the Jojug Marjanli village of Azerbaijan’s Jabrayil region, the Economy Ministry informed on June 4.

The projects, implemented with joint organizational support of the ministry and Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan, are aimed at employment of the village residents and improvement of social welfare.

An event was held on the same day in Jojug Marjanli to better inform the villagers of the projects and familiarize with the progress in the village. Representatives of the Economy Ministry, Turkish Embassy, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and local residents attended the event.

Deputy Economy Minister Sahib Mammadov noted that the implementation of joint projects in Jojug Marjanli is another example of brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey, and stressed the importance of the projects being implemented for the socio-economic development of the village and employment.

Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Erkan Ozoral, in turn, noted the importance of the joint projects in the development of agriculture and animal husbandry in the region.

In addition, Chief Executive of the Jabrayil region Kamal Hasanov said that the projects being implemented in Jojug Marjanli will contribute to its development and providing employment for its residents.

Coordinator of the TIKA Baku program Adem Urfa, in turn, mentioned that 15 tunnel type greenhouses with polyethylene coating will be built in the village and 150 beekeeping farms will be created for 15 families.

Within the joint programs, the greenhouses will be equipped with drip irrigation system, and the residents will be provided with seedlings, fertilizers and pesticides for growing vegetables as well as tools and equipment for plant care. These two projects will provide at least 30 jobs and 30 families with a stable income.

Jojug Marjanli was liberated by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces from the Armenian occupation in April 2016. In late January 2017, President Ilham Aliyev ordered to restore the village.

During the first phase of restoration, 50 private houses, a school, mosque, electric substation, hydrometeorological station, highway and other relevant infrastructure were constructed in Jojug Marjanli. The village was provided with gas, electricity and water supply. During the second phase of construction and restoration work and work on improvement and creation in Jojug Marjanli, new houses were built and infrastructure was enhanced in the village.

Currently, Jojug Marjanli attracts many business projects both of local and foreign entrepreneurs.
