Gold extracted from Azeri field to be processed abroad
The first gold deposits extracted from a field in
Azerbaijan`s western Gadabay district are to be sent abroad for
processing. Opportunities available with Turkish and Swiss
companies are now being explored, according to the Azerbaijan
International Extractive Operations Company.
Following processing, Azerbaijani gold is to be sold, in accord with agreements signed with the companies. Its prices will be set based upon world market levels.
Officials said that over 300,000 ounces of gold are to be mined from the Gadabay field by 2015.
The company also plans to explore gold reserves in the Tovuz district and the Ordubad region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
