Azerbaijan imported over 0.5 million tons of fruits, vegetables

During January-April, 600,735 tons of fruit and vegetable products of various assortments were imported into Azerbaijan.

The State Phytosanitary Control Service reported that among the agricultural products imported from Azerbaijan are mainly apples, pears, pineapples, peanuts, almonds, bananas, nuts, kiwi, eggplants, peppers, potatoes, beans, and cabbage.

Apples, pears, pineapples, peanuts, almonds, bananas, nuts, kiwi, eggplants, peppers, potatoes, beans, cabbage are imported into the country from Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia.

The main countries supplying agricultural products to Azerbaijan during the reporting period were Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan and Russia.

The Service noted that in the first quarter of 2018, during the examination of samples of agricultural products, mainly sown materials, 57 pests were found.

During this period, chemical substances that threatened human life and health were also found. As a result, 53,623 kilograms of fruit and vegetable products were withdrawn from sale and destroyed.

In total, in 2017 legal entities and individuals of Azerbaijan carried out trade operations with their partners in 187 countries, products exported to 116 countries and imported from 179 countries.
