IBA named best local bank
The International Bank of Azerbaijan (IBA), the
country`s leading bank, has been named Best Local Bank by one of
the top European analytical publications in a review of financial
institutions in European, Middle Eastern and African states.
The EmeaFinance magazine`s award, conferred early this month in the "Best Bank in CIS, central and Eastern Europe" nomination, marks IBA`s successes achieved in 2008.
The London-based publication reports on the finance sectors in eastern and central Europe. Its readership includes top managers of leading companies and financial institutions from throughout the world. EmeaFinance is the world`s only publication covering all finance-related developments, functions and achievements in the region, as well as innovations in the area of financial services, products and technologies. Every year EmeaFinance names the best banks in more than 20 nominating categories, including Islamic banking, syndicated loans and mergers.
All aspiring banks were welcome to vie for the award and organizers accepted for consideration the data on each country`s major banks as well as of the 50 largest banks in the CIS, central and Eastern European regions, applying such indicators as assets, capitalization and profit.
The winner was determined by a commission comprising executives and analysts of EmeaFinance, banking and finance consultants. The main criteria included economic and financial figures such as market share, the provision of key and innovative products and services, revenues, corporate strategy as well as a given bank`s extent of susceptibility to the world economic crisis.
The ceremony of conferring the awards will be held in London and attended by representatives of international financial institutions, major companies and corporations.
