Car of the Year to be presented in Baku
Opel Insignia, which has been recognized as Car of
the Year 2009, will soon be available in Azerbaijan according to
Farid Mammadov, the director of Iteca Caspian, the regional partner
of British ITE Group PLC that is involved in organizing major
exhibitions in the country.
The Car of the Year is a designation awarded by 59 senior motoring correspondents from 23 European countries. They chose the Insignia from 37 contenders in this year's competition.
Mammadov told a news conference Monday that the presentation ceremony will be held as part of the traditional international AutoShow exhibition at the Sports and Exhibition Complex named after Heydar Aliyev on March 26-29.
The event, to be held in Azerbaijan for the sixth year with over 50 companies from 15 countries in attendance, will also display new car models.
Along with a show displaying vehicles, an AutoParts exhibition featuring spare parts, accessories and maintenance equipment will be held.
