Russia’s Agriculture Ministry together with the Russian Railways intend to launch refrigerated block trains between Russia and Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Belarus for export and import of agricultural and food products.

Under this project, it was proposed to organize a simplified customs regime of clearance of goods. Moreover, it is planned to synchronize within the intergovernmental commissions the tariff plans for the carriage of goods by such trains, gazeta.ru reported on May 15.

The Agriculture Ministry's Department also proposed to establish transport corridors for import and export of agricultural and food products via refrigerated block trains in the directions of Uzbekistan (Tajikistan), Azerbaijan (Iran) and Belarus.

The project envisages allocation of railway “threads” to Azerbaijan (Iran) and Uzbekistan (Tajikistan) for refrigerated block trains with the cargo speed of some 550 kilometers per day.

Moreover, within these corridors, it is planned to create “green corridor,” electronic declaration, veterinary and phytosanitary control in accordance with the principle of a “single window.” The terms of the compliance of carriage will be monitored through the information system ERA-GLONASS.

The proposals were approved by Russia’s Transport Ministry, Federal Customs Service, Rosselkhoznadzor and the Russian Railways.
