British athlete: European Games in Baku surpass all expectations

The inaugural European Games in Baku surpass all expectations,
British diver James Heatly, who took the third place in diving on
June 18, told Trend.
He went on to add that these Games are amazing. “It is definitely
more than I expected,” Heatly said.
He said he hasn’t really had a chance to speak to any of
Azerbaijani athletes yet, adding that everyone he has seen in the
Athletes Village was very welcoming, very nice.
Everyone in the Athletes Village gets along very well and helps
everybody else, according to the British athlete.
The European Games are very exciting, Heatly said, adding that this
event is a lot bigger than he thought it was going to be.
He said that Baku has amazing pools, and all other venues are
great. “The whole atmosphere is amazing here,” said the British
diver.
The European Games that kicked off in Baku June 12, will last till
June 28. There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic
sports and four non-Olympic sports.
More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe came to Baku to
represent their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was
awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in
December 2012.
