Luxembourg sends four Olympians to Baku 2015

Luxembourg have named four Olympic athletes among their first 16 team members for Baku 2015.

The Luxembourg COSL named its preliminary team for the first European Games while also listing the 136-athlete team for the Games of the Small States of Europe, which take place 1-6 June.

The Baku 2015 athlete with the most experience is Table Tennis player Ni Xia Lian, who has competed in three Olympics and won two world titles and three European gold medals.

Archer Jeff Heckels made it to two Olympics, while judoka Marie Muller participated in the 2008 Olympics and has won four titles at the Small States Games.

Artistic gymnast Sascha Palgen also appeared at Beijing 2008 and won a Small States gold medal on Floor in 2013.

Jenny Warling won a bronze medal at the 2015 European Karate European Championships and fencer Lis Fautsch has competed in three World Championships.

The Luxembourg team is not yet complete as the Road Race cyclists - three men and two women - must still be determined.

The COSL also has yet to name its two 25-member men's and women's Athletics teams, which will take place after the Small States competition.

As the biggest sporting event in Azerbaijan's history, the Baku 2015 European Games will attract more than 6,000 athletes to represent 49 countries in 20 sports on June 12-28.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
