Erdogan warns Armenia over misleading propaganda

Armenia's zealous efforts to see its so-called "Armenian genocide" recognized by the international community has landed it in hot waters with Turkey as Ankara warned it would not tolerate to see history falsified.

Armenia's determination to mark the centennial of its fallacious genocide has angered Turkey leaders across the political spectrum.

Turkey dismisses the allegations, regarding them a tool of political pressure on Ankara.

In recent comments to the press ahead of an official visit to Kazakhstan, Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey could have deported all Armenian illegal migrants living in the country if indeed Turkey has such a negative view of the Armenian community. And yet it did not.

"Currently, 100,000 Armenian citizens reside in Turkey. No one can prove any discrimination against them so far in our country," he said in comments to TRT Haber TV channel.

As for calls from Yerevan to have a resolution passed on the so-called "Armenian genocide" by the European Parliament on April 15, Erdogan expressed no personal opinion towards the EU legislative body's official approach.

"Even if the European Parliament adopts such a resolution and officially recognize the so-called "Armenian genocide", it will not change anything for Turkey. Because nothing similar to Armenia's allegations happened in the country’s history," he said.

Tanju Bilgic of the Turkish Foreign Ministry said earlier that Turkey would spare no effort to prevent the adoption by the European Parliament of a resolution presenting 1915 events as an "Armenian genocide".

Bilgic also added that Turkey was against any unilateral investigation and assessment of 1915 events as it could be use as tool of political pressure on Ankara.

The European Parliament's previous statement read that an alleged "ethnic cleansing" was carried out against Armenians living in the territory of the Ottoman Empire in 1915.

The Armenian authorities and diaspora claim that the predecessor of modern Turkey - the Ottoman Empire - carried out a "genocide" against Armenians in 1915 in Anatolia. They annually raise their voice, calling for the recognition of the unreal events of 1915, inviting the international community to unanimously blame Turkey for the actions of its predecessor.

As Armenia works to twist 1915 events and sell its "genocide" to the world, hoping every year to rewrite history to fits its delusions, its efforts backfired as more voices from across the globe have argued that Armenia did not indeed suffer a "genocide" and that, in fact, it faced no tougher time than other nations in the region.

Turkey is unequivocally denying Armenia's claims that the Ottoman Empire systematically executed Armenians back in 1915.

Top Turkish leaders have maintained that 1915 events were a difficult time not only for Armenians, but for several other ethnic communities as well: Arabs, Kurds and other ethnic minorities in the region.

Turkish Parliamentary Speaker, Cemil Cicek said no any action against Armenians in the history of Turkey can qualify as a "genocide". He believes that Armenia is just trying to turn its 1915 propaganda into a source of income to better its political and financial standing in the international arena.

Furthermore, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu highlighted Armenia's groundless 1915 "genocide" propaganda as a hindrance to the normalization of relations between Ankara and Yerevan.
