Armenian troops breach ceasefire with Azerbaijan

The Armenian armed units shattered ceasefire with Azerbaijan a total of 7 times throughout the day, Azerbaijan`s Defense Ministry reported on January 30.

The Armenian armed forces, stationed in Armenia`s Aygepar and Chinari villages in Berd district subjected to fire the positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces located in Alibayli and Kokhanabi villages in Tovuz district.

The ceasefire was also violated in nameless hills in Fuzuli district.

Armenia captured Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts from Azerbaijan in a war that followed the Soviet breakup in 1991. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and nearly 1 million were displaced as a result of the war.

Armenia still controls fifth part of Azerbaijan's territory and rejects implementing four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding districts.
