Armenia continues eco terror against Azerbaijan

By Rashid Shirinov
The Armenian government continues its ecological terror against Azerbaijan along with daily provocations on the frontline.
The country frequently commits arsons in the occupied Azerbaijani territories, which also spread to villages located near the contact line of Armenian-Azerbaijani troops, what is more the Armenians are now targeting water resources. They pollute and poison the rivers and reservoirs.
This time, the Agstafachay reservoir, located in the border village of Azerbaijan’s Gazakh region, has been a subject to the pollution from the Armenian side. The inspections in the reservoir revealed a large quantity of expired drinks and chemical substances of Armenian production.
Moreover, suspicious packages and explosives were detected in the territory adjacent to the reservoir. All of them were neutralized by the professionals of ANAMA (Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action).
Yusif Nasibov, the department head at the Agstafachay Reservoir Management, informed that the river that feeds the Agstafachay reservoir originates in the territory of Armenia. Along with polluting the river with domestic waste, the Armenian side poisons it with toxic substances.
Despite the regular cleaning activities, the ecological situation in the reservoirs and adjacent territories worsens with the rising water levels, which bring toxic substances to the reservoir.
Azerbaijan's two largest rivers, the Kur and Araz, also pass through Armenia and Armenians have been regularly polluting them for many years. Both rivers play a major part in agriculture and the economy of Azerbaijan.
Almost all of the rivers that begin in Armenia flow into the Kur and Araz rivers and then to the Caspian Sea.
The Armenians also pollute the Ganjachay, Goshgarchay, Shamkirchay, Agstafachay rivers that pass through the Azerbaijani territory.
Armenia's ecological terror against Azerbaijan has been continuing for over 20 years. Armenia's hazardous actions, however, haven't yet met with a response from the international organizations.
