Deputy Assistant Secretary of U.S. to visit Kyrgyzstan

Deputy Assistant Secretary for Afghanistan and Central Asia Henry S. Ensher is visiting the Kyrgyz Republic on February 5, 2018 to discuss a range of bilateral issues with senior Kyrgyz government officials, members of Parliament, and civil society leaders, Kabar with reference to the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek reported.
Ambassador Ensher will also meet with alumni of U.S. government exchange programs. The purpose of the visit is to gain a better understanding of the objectives of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, and to discuss areas of mutual interest.
A career diplomat, the Deputy Assistant Secretary served as the U.S. Ambassador to Algeria (2011-14). He was also the Chief of Mission at the U.S. Mission to International Organizations in Vienna; the United States Senior Civilian Representative at Kandahar Air Field (Afghanistan); Director of the Office of Afghanistan Affairs in the Department of State; and Director of Political Affairs for Iraq within the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. Mr. Ensher joined the Foreign Service in 1983 and his overseas assignments include Hermosillo, Jeddah, Muscat, Damascus, Vienna, Algiers, Tel Aviv and Baghdad.
