Roxi Petroleum, a Central Asian oil and gas company with a focus on Kazakhstan, announced operational progress at its Galaz assets last week.

The company said NK-14 well has reached its total depth of 1,501 meters without incident. Well logging has been completed and an interval of interest between 1,290.2 and 1,295.7 meters has been identified in the Aryskumskiy horizon for further testing.

Roxi also noted well NK-24 has reached a depth of 425 meters without incident. The well is also targeting Jurassic and Cretaceous reservoirs and has a planned total depth of 1,500 meters.

Three successful wells have been drilled at Galaz since 2012, including well NK-7, well NK-8, and well NK-12, the company said.

"Well NK-7 successfully tested oil at a daily rate of 186 barrels of oil per day at 6 millimeters choke size. Well NK-8 tested and flowed 197 barrels of oil per day at 6 millimeters choke size and 251 barrels of oil per day at 7 millimeters choke size. Well NK-12 tested at a daily rate of 117 barrels of oil per day at 8 millimeters choke size," Roxi stressed.

The Galaz block is located in the Kyzylorda Oblast in central Kazakhstan. The contract area was extended on January 10, 2011 to 179 square kilometers and now includes significant exploration upside on the east side of the Karatau fault system, as well as the NW Konys development.

Kazakhstan, one of the five Central Asian countries, is rich with hydrocarbon reserves. The county's largest hydrocarbon fields are Kashagan, Tengiz, and Karachaganak.

The recoverable oil reserves of Kashagan field are estimated at 11 billion barrels, whereas total geological raw material reserves stand at 35 billion barrels. Besides, natural gas reserves are estimated at over 1 trillion cubic meters.

The Tengiz oil field is one of the deepest and largest oil fields in the world. Reserves of the deposit are estimated at 750 million to 1.1 billion tons (6-9 billion barrels) of recoverable oil.

Karachaganak is one of the world's largest fields. Its oil reserves amount to 1.2 billion tons, while those of natural gas are 1.35 trillion cubic meters.

Roxi Petroleum is a Kazakhstan-based oil and gas exploration and production company established in October 2006. The company's main commercial rationale is to acquire controlling interests in and develop oil and gas assets in Central Asia with a focus on Kazakhstan.

Roxi currently has interests in four exploration and production contract areas spread over three petroleum basins, in particular the pre-Caspian and Mangyshlak basins in Western Kazakhstan, and the Turgai basin in Central Kazakhstan.
