Georgia can allow foreigners to rent lands
Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili said that the foreigners will be allowed to rent lands in Georgia soon.
Speaking at the meeting with experts on September 25, he said that the decision of the Georgian parliament to ban the sale and transfer of land to foreigners contradicts with the principles of free market economy.
"We should make decisions as soon as possible and we are already preparing such decision. We have at least to lease land to foreigners, because it [the status quo] inhibits development and attraction of investment," Ivanishvili said.
According to the prime minister, the parliament's decision was dictated by the interests to defend the state and its citizens, but the principles of freedom are higher.
The Constitutional Court of Georgia has already received several complaints from foreign citizens in connection with parliament decision.
