Experts of Rosselkhoznadzor will launch inspections over the production of peppers, lettuce, pumpkins and zucchini in Turkey since May 15, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the press service of the Russian department.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, after talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on May 3, said that an agreement on comprehensive settlement of restrictions in bilateral economic relations was reached.
The Russian leader noted that the relations between the two countries are fully restored.
At the same time, restrictions on visa-free travel and on deliveries of tomatoes from Turkey to Russia will remain in place.
"Based on the results of consideration of the list of Turkish producers of pepper, lettuce, pumpkin and zucchini presented by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock of the Republic of Turkey, the Rosselkhoznadzor is ready to visit Turkey on May 15, 2017, in order to get acquainted with the work of the main producers of these products and their ability to provide a set of measures to ensure Russian phytosanitary requirements," the press service said.
Russia had imposed a number of economic sanctions, including the suspension of visa-free travel, on Turkey at the beginning of last year in response to the downing of a Russian Su-24 bomber.
The Moscow-Ankara relations began to improve after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan apologized over the jet incident. Russia lifted the flight ban, but food embargo on Turkey's food and agricultural products remains partly in place.
