German energy firm plans joint projects with SOCAR
RWE AG, the German energy concern, is seeking
involvement in the development of oil and gas fields in
Azerbaijan.
"We hope that RWE will become an interested partner for Azerbaijan
and have already launched talks with SOCAR [the country`s state
energy firm] on cooperation and implementation of projects,"
Manfred Dworatzek, Senior Vice-President of RWE Dea AG for
Exploration and New Ventures, said at the opening of RWE`s office
in Baku last week.
According to Dworatzek, the establishment of the company`s new
office is linked to its long-term plans.
"I think the opening of the Baku office will quicken the
intensifying of our talks and speed up the accomplishment of
positive results," said Dworatzek. He noted that RWE has extensive
experience in developing hydrocarbon deposits and is ready to
introduce its "know-how" in Azerbaijan.
Khoshbakht Yusifzada, SOCAR`s First Vice-President, said RWE held a
presentation in Baku of its potential and technologies in
hydrocarbon production.
"These technologies could be used at relatively shallow offshore
blocks, as well as at deposits located at the crossing of sea and
soil," Yusifzada said.
RWE Dea is engaged in developing energy fields around the world,
extraction and sales of oil and natural gas.
