President Aliyev receives delegations of election observation missions

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by head of the election observation mission of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Executive Secretary of the organization Sergey Lebedev on October 10.

The head of the mission congratulated President Aliyev on a landslide victory in the presidential elections.

Lebedev noted that members of the CIS mission were in close contact with local observers and voters during the election process.

He said voters cast their ballots for stability and development of the country.

According to Lebedov, the results of the presidential elections in Azerbaijan illustrated the people's trust in their President and prospects of work carried out in the country under his leadership.

Lebedev expressed confidence that President Aliyev's political line would contribute to strengthening the country's image on the international scene and in the CIS, as well as to expanding Azerbaijan's cooperative, economic and neighborhood ties with member countries of the CIS.

The President thanked the head of the CIS observation mission and the mission's members for their participation in the monitoring of the presidential elections.

President Aliyev said all necessary conditions were created to conduct transparent elections in the country.

The Head of State noted that the election process took place in a democratic manner.

The people voted for the results of the successful policy carried out in the country and this policy will be continued, the President concluded.

President Aliyev also received a Pakistani delegation, which consists of members of the Senate and the National Assembly, led by Deputy Chairman of the Senate Sabir Ali Baloch.

On behalf of the delegation, Sabir Ali Baloch congratulated President Aliyev on his confident victory in the presidential elections.

He said the election was held in a free, democratic, and transparent manner.

Ali Baloch also praised existing peace and stability in Azerbaijan.

He reiterated that Afghanistan supported Azerbaijan's fair position on the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The Head of State hailed successful development of friendly and fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.

He noted that Pakistan was one of the close allies of Azerbaijan.

President Aliyev expressed confidence that the friendly and partnership ties between the two countries would continue to develop in the years to come.

The President stressed the importance of the two countries' mutual support as part of international organizations.

Later, President Aliyev received a delegation of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, which observed the presidential elections in the country.

On behalf of the delegation, member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Haluk Ipak, who heads the mission, congratulated the President over his landslide victory.

He said they visited several regions of the country and saw high voter turnout, especially among youth.

Ipak said the observation mission included deputies from the Justice and Development Party, the Republican People's Party and the Nationalist Movement Party.

He reminded that he took part in the 2003 election as well, noting he witness a great progress after every election in Azerbaijan.

According to Ipak, the elections was observed with great interest by the Turkish President, Prime Minister and the people, and expressed hope the elections would bring great achievements to Azerbaijan.

The Head of State described the historical friendship and brotherhood ties between the two countries as a strong foundation for development of the Turkey-Azerbaijan relations.

President Aliyev said the Turkey-Azerbaijan unity was an important factor on the international scene. He praised the successful development of the relations between the two nations.

Touching upon the presidential election, the President praised its results as the people's approval of work done in Azerbaijan, and expression of their will regarding future development.

The Head of State expressed confidence that the Azerbaijan-Turkey bilateral relations would be further developed on all fronts.
